CENTRE OF PENDEEN – PARTIAL RE-OPENING FROM MONDAY 26 MAY With Step 2 of the Government’s ‘Road out of Lockdown’ taking place on 12 April, the easing of Covid Restrictions will allow the opening of non- essential retail and some aspects of community buildings to resume. The Centre’s trustees have discussed how best to plan a safe and Covid-secure re-opening, in line with these regulations , which will begin to see our community hub becoming active and available once again. From Monday 26 April the trustees are pleased to announce that the CoP will be open mornings only 9.30 -12.30 Monday to Saturday (6 mornings) but initially only the foyer and reception areas . This will allow access to photocopying and printing services, book sales, ‘This and That’ items, greeting cards etc. To make sure that everyone is kept safe, face masks must be worn and a hand sanitiser unit is installed in the foyer. 2m social distancing will apply, meaning that only one person/one household will be allowed in the foyer at any one time, and a maximum of 2 people in the main reception area (excluding the desk volunteer who will be behind a screened reception desk). There will be no public access to the main halls, snooker room, toilets or kitchen areas at this stage. We will, however, be looking at further phases of the building’s re-opening to include other facilities, activities and events in line with steps 3 and 4 of the ‘Roadmap to Lockdown’ and further information will be published as the weeks go on. We know that everyone will appreciate we are an entirely voluntary run, charitable organisation , and the building can only open and operate because of its dedicated, hardworking trustees, committee members and volunteer team. Our salaried caretaker ,who has been on furlough throughout the past year, will now need to be un-furloughed, as once we are open in any capacity (however limited) the daily cleaning regimes must be absolutely stringent and in compliance with Covid guidelines. This will ensure that we all stay as safe as we possibly can. Please do come and use the Centre from 26 April, we are looking forward to seeing you and getting back to providing at least some of our services. We know that you will be patient and respectful to those desk volunteers who are willing to undertake reception duties in order for us to move forward. For further information on the Government’s ‘Roadmap out of Lockdown Steps’ please see https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/covid-19-response-spring-2021/covid-19-response-spring-2021-summary Any queries about the re-opening plans can be directed to Delia Webb, chair of the CoP trustees on 01736 787191
